Life magazine was a weekly magazine that had a significant national readership from the 1880s until the 1970s or so. From the 1970s to 2000, it was a monthly magazine. The magazine was owned by the same company that runs Time magazine. Life was known for its photography and photojournalism. Its archives have been digitized by Google. Take a look at the site – if you are doing your historical investigation on a topic after the 1860s, there is most likely a relevant and interesting photograph in the archive. I will be posting pictures that I find on my website throughout the year.
