I mentioned in class some interesting images from the 1989 time period. In the next couple of posts you’ll find pictures and video that I hope you’ll find interesting.
1. The Round Table talks in Poland.
I mentioned that the negotiations that took place February and April 1989 between Solidarity and the Communist government were called the Round Table talks because they met at a round table. Well, here it is:
2. I also mentioned in class that there is a famous photo of Erich Honecker (the leader of East Germany) smooching Leonid Brezhnev from 1979. Well, here it is:
This image was turned into a political poster in Hungary and a painting on the Berlin Wall after 1990:
